Garden Show Ireland 2017

Millstrand Integrated Primary School ‘Scaremaid’

Despite rumours to the contrary I have not dropped off the edge of the world. I am at the Allianz Garden Show Ireland at Antrim, NI where it has been wonderfully sunny. The wind has been a bit chilly but the forecast is set fair for the whole weekend – is this the year I don’t need to be towed out of the car park as I sink into the mud?

As an antidote to the judging on Thursday and yesterday spent talking about gardening here is the usual selection of scarecrows constructed by local schools, but with the addition of some ‘fairy-type’ gardens.

Obesity is a real problem around here! Six Mile Integrated Primary School ‘Rory’

Phoenix Integrated Primary School ‘Little Crow Peep’

These enchanted gardens are based on fairies and some on the legend of Finn McCool  – for more click – giantscausewaytickets.com/finn-mccool

A different giant – in fact a bit of a hulk – ‘Fe Fi Fo Fum’ St Comgalls Primary School

A new feature is the display from the NI Loose quilters

And lastly, a bit of horticulture – the Belfast City Council stand – a great effort that looks better in the afternoon when the sun doesn’t give the game away with the photo background.

The show is open Saturday and Sunday, from 10.00 to 18.00
