Iris ‘Piste Noire’
This is another Cayeux iris from France and was introduced in 2012. It is a 90cm tall plant with good growth habits and has withstood the winds well. The colouring, especially those stripes around the beard, remind me of the classic ‘Slovak Prince’ (Mego 2003) and although I am not usually a fan of stripes at the upper part of the falls I do think these enhance the flower and set off the burnt orange beards quite well.
The combination of good growth, nice ruffling, strong colours and a nice bit of perfume are endearing it to me.
