Sunday bunch: pink tulips
Last week I picked a bunch of tulips, both pink and fringed. One I like and one I am not so keen on but I must admit that, together, they looked lovely, in a ‘Barbie Princess’ sort of way. The tall, pink ‘Huis Ten Bosch’ is an elegant, lovely thing and often combined with the very similar but lilac ‘Cummins’ to make a lovely garden display. ‘Queensland’ is a very different creature: dumpy, double and very fringed. To me, ‘Huis Ten Bosch’ is an Afghan hound and ‘Queensland’ is a Shitzu.
But, together in a vase – a short vase because of the short stature of ‘Queensland’ – I am almost won over.
