Spring at Mount Usher: April 2015
I have posted about Mount Usher several times before, partly because it is nearby and I like the place so much, but here is another set of photos of the garden. I managed to get to the garden on Saturday morning before the rain and wind set in and, once again, it was delightful. This naturalistic, Robinsonian garden shows how a light touch in a landscape can be beautiful.
There were several large bushes of Osmanthus delavayi and the profusion of sweetly scented white flowers scented the air
The flowers are individually very small but there are lots of them
The dog graves
The River Vartry runs through the river, making beautiful views
… from many angles
…showing off the yellow spathes of Lysichiton americanum perfectly (more on this plant soon)
… and the emerging leaves of gunnera.
The small garden centre is closed at the moment but there are plants for sale at the garden entrance, including these beautifully planted pots and troughs
