And the plum crop is gone
I really should know better than to take anything for granted in the garden. It was only a week or so ago that I was writing about plum blossom and casually basking in the glory of all the other tiny plum buds. But I was so caught up worrying about frost that I forgot another potential problem.

Those cute little bull finches that flock around the dead dock stems, gobbling up the seeds in winter have their beady little eyes set on something different in spring – the flower buds on the plum trees. With a few exceptions – all gone.

Oh @±*?!*!!!! (or words to that effect)
Blasted nuisance. We have bullfinches along the road here but they seem to come into the garden only very seldom, thankfully.
It would not be so bad if the hedges were not full of sloes with white flower buds – and if I didn’t spend a fortune on wild bird food – though mostly eaten by the tits and sparrows, not the bullfinches.
Unappreciative wildlife is a curse!
Oh DOUBLE @±*?!*!!!! Now that is a new one for me. I know they can get frosted if they bloom too early, but eaten? Oh @±*?!*!!!!
