Buzzing in the autumn sun

bubblebee

Although there is a general decline in bumble bees we seem to be lucky here and the garden is still full of them. They are amazingly clever and bite their way into all sorts of flowers that strictly should be out of bounds to them but, of course, they also visit more typical ‘bee’ flowers such as these white lavenders. Oddly, the honey bees seem a lot less adventurous and are rarely seen in the garden except on mignonette which is a honeybee magnet. I sowed it for the perfume but it has turned out to be a wonderful plant for honeybees.
