Full of beans – with luck

beans support

The climbing French and runner beans were slow starters but are now making some progress up the twine on the supports. These are the beds that had lettuce in earlier in the season but soon after the beans went in I edged the beds with curly kale in red and green. There are a few flowers on the runners but nothing on the French beans yet. But with lots of growth things are looking good.

They seem to cling to the twine well. I just hope it can support they huge crop!

Well It looks good but It is actually not on good shape. The foundations are not good and it is leaning. Buttresses were put in years ago but they are leaning too!

Thank you. It was a bit of hassle to start with but the basic frames should last for years and be easy to remove and store. And it should be easy to cut the twine and compost the lot – easier that getting the beans off canes. that is the theory anyway!
