Spring is here – ladybirds on the move
It is always a good sign when the ladybirds, that have been hiding in canes, old leaves and seedheads have a spring party and a get together. Today I noticed dozens on an old pansy plant that had been left in one of the raised beds. It’s a great place for a ladybird ball because overwintered pansies are often lousy with aphids (greenfly) so these ladybirds can have a feast before they do what ladybirds do in spring. Hopefully their breeding will be in full swing by the time the aphids find the new rose shoots.
