Sweet pea progress
As I said last week, sweet peas plants are pinched out when they have four or five leaves to encourage the growth of sideshoots, low down, which are generally much stronger. I pinched out the growing tips of mine last month and you can see they are now sending up new stems that are thicker and much stronger. These are the shoots that I will be training up the canes after I plant them next month. If there are two or more shoots I will cut out all but the strongest.
